Big "0" Party.....

My family and extended family all live within 150-200 miles of one another.  We have recently began to come together frequently during the summer months to see one another but this year has proven to be a little different.  Starting with the May tornado Joplin experieced because several of my family members live there.  They, thankfully, were unharmed but a few are out of work - a couple worked for St. Johns Hospital.  Back to this year, this was quite a special year for some because they celebrated what we like to call, a "mile stone year"!!!!!!  Let me explain it.....

We had 10 family members that were celebrating the "mile stone year"...meaning, they would add a "0" to the end of their birth number.  We had from 20 years old to 80 years old.

In the above picture are: front left - Tammy Whitaker (cousin) turned 50 in March, Jean Gerth (my Mom) turned 80 the day before this celebration June 24th), Wilma Lawson (aunt and sister to my Mom) will turn 70 in Oct.
Back left - Zacheri Wheelbarger (my son) turned 20 in Feb., Toby Kincade (Tammy's friend) turned 40 in March, Mike McMichael (bro-n-law) will turn 60 in Aug., and Richard (bro-n-law) will turn 60 in
Nov.
The other family members not present were:  Jonathan Windsor (Nephew-n-law) was serving in Afganistan but has since come back on US soil (PTL) turned 30 in April, Misty and Nathan Walker (cousins) from Oklahoma will turn 30 (Misty) in Nov. and 40 (Nathan) in Dec.

Isn't that  A W E S O M E!!!!!!  God has been good to my family!

Blessings~

Wedding shower...........

Four months and counting now until the big day......the wedding day that is.  This past Saturday, my family and I gave Zacheri and Emily a wedding shower for our friends and family in Kansas City.  I know many of them will not be able to attend the wedding, and I wanted them to see Zacheri and meet Emily, his future bride so we hosted this shower.  Her are some pictures I wanted to share.

Princess Diana.......

Sat., April 16th we had girls day out!  Princess Diana was a HUGE fan of mine.  I've collected her memorabla for years  - well, since she and Charles became in engaged and until her death.  I even went so far as to stay up the night of her wedding and watch it.  What a thrill that was for me at that age.  I remember the night she was killed as well.....just like she was a relative of mine.  She was a good mother and left a wonderful legacy to her sons, unknowing to her that her life would be short lived.  Her son's have carried on as wonderful gentlemen and now we will get the honor of witnessing William and Kate get married.  As a mother who's son is getting married later this year....I know her (Diana) heart and know how very very proud she would be to see her son get married.  We will have to be his Mother, his Diana for him - all us Mother's out there watching his speical day.

Mom has always made wedding cakes - as long as I can remember she has.  I remember helping her ice them.........and then I started helping her set them up.........to making wedding cakes myself.  It is not an easy job to do but in a wedding that is one thing people always look for - they want to see "what the wedding cake looks like".  It was quite a surprise to see a replica of Princess Diana's cake - and I have to say....it was what I was expecting.

With that being said, the ladies of our family got the opportunity to visit the Diana Museum at Union Station on Saturday.  It was awesome!

Dr. B!............

On April 15, we had the honor of watching a seven plus year dream come true- Branon McMichael, my nephew became a Doctor of Chiropractic. This has been a dream of Branon's since graduation from High school.  He had to take a year and a half off because of burn out in the brain.  When I found out he had taken a break I said to him, " Promise me, you'll go back and finish." he said, " I promise you Aunt Cindy, I will go back and Graduate." And he kept that promise. Here are a few pictures to share!

Destination Rock 'N' Roll..........

Tonight Makalyn sang/dance in the Advanced Vocal Choir.  As you can see, the theme was Rock 'N' Roll.  Several students were dressed with leather jackets, or rolled-up blue jeans and several tie-dye shirts.

This wasn't a big choir and some had problems singing and dancing at the same time but for the most part it was a good program and well choregraphed.

Makalyn with her hands on her hips.....why she does that....I don't know.
Makalyn had a couple of speaking parts and a solo - which I might add was awesome!!!!!

Sorry....I couldn't get this picture to rotate.  She is singing her solo in this pic.
Today, if you didn't know, is Justin Biebers birthday.  Yes, Makalyn and her friends are huge fans of his.  Girls, remember those guys you had crushes on when you were that age.....Leaf Garret was mine.  Mak and her friends paid tribute by singing Justin's song "pray".  They took the song and made it their own.  It was GREAT!.

L to R:  Makalyn Wheelbarger, Holly Ferrell, Kayla Johnson (Guitar), Macey Hitchcock, Emily Raley
These girls have gone to school together since kindergarten.  What great memories they are making together.  They even got together and made their tie-dye shirts.  They have great singing abilities but most of all...they love the Lord!  I'm excited to what God has in store for each one of them.

Well, that was Destination Rock 'N' Roll....hope you enjoyed it!!!!
